The Instruments of Welborne UMC

The music at Welborne is central to our worship.  We have several instruments that support the music ministry.

The grand piano is the principal instrument to lead worship.  You will hear everything from contemporary praise music to traditional, from hymnody to jazz.  It is a versatile instrument that expresses the many different moods and genres the Welborne family of worshipers enjoy. In the sanctuary, Welborne is blessed to have a Yamaha 7 foot conservatory grand piano.

The organ is central to the Church’s traditional music ministry. It supports congregational singing and provides repertoire drawn from the centuries of sacred music written specifically for the organ in worship. Welborne is fortunate to have an Andrews 55 rank, 3 manual pipe organ, played masterfully by our Director of Music Ministries.

The Handbell Ensembles of Welborne ring on a three and a half octave set of Schulmerich handbells, and 2 octaves of Malmark choir chimes.

In addition to our keyboards and handbells, Welborne is blessed with percussion instruments of all sorts, including drums and congas.

Many members of our congregation play instruments.  We always welcome their participation in our worship services.  Pull that horn or clarinet or flute out of the closet, dust it off, and practice a little bit.  We are here to worship God with a joyful noise!  Click here to email Misti Kai to see how you can participate or call 804-740-7128.
