Pastor John retiring
As we all know, Pastor John is retiring. We are having a lunch in his honor, on Sunday, June 3rd, after the One Great Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Fried chicken will be provided but we need everyone to bring one or two side dishes to share.
We are also collecting a Love Gift for John. If you would like to contribute, please leave it in offering plate or mail to the church. Be sure to indicate on your check or on envelope- Pastor John's gift. This gift is due by May 27th.
Friday Night Fun
6/22/2012 - Kids up to third grade may be dropped off at 6pm and pick-up is at 8:30pm. Cost is $5 per child with a cap of $15 per family. While you are out with your date and enjoying some “kid-free” time, your kids will be having a great time playing, making crafts, eating pizza, popsicles, and popcorn, and watching a fun “big-screen” movie. As always, you are welcome to drop off your child/children for only the movie portion of the evening free of charge (movie begins at 7pm) and a permission slip is still required.
Permission slips are available outside of Pastor John’s office and online at www.welbornechurch.org in the “Forms” option. Please register by Wednesday, June 20th. Space is limited to the first 20 children with signed permission slips. Payment can be made that evening at drop-off.
Save the dates: July 30-August 3 is Vacation Bible School!
Registration is now open for our Biblical Adventure Vacation Bible School. Join us as we explore Daniel's courage in captivity in the land of Babylon. Explore the Marketplace, learn songs, visit with Daniel, and discover more about the adventures that took place in that foreign land.
You'll also have the opportunity to help us support the Central Virginia Food Bank! Vacation Bible School is fun for everyone - the children who take part and the adults and youth who volunteer. So register now as a volunteer, and register your children to participate! www.welbornevbs.org
We'll see you in Babylon!

FOOD BOX
Thanks to all of you who have been bringing food in for our food box. We could use cans of fruit, meats such as tuna, spaghetti and meat sauce, ham, spam and cereal.
Update Mission Trip – July 15 through July 21
To rebuild homes damaged by Irene in the Beaufort/Morehead City, NC area. We still have space available for you. We can take up to 35 people if we have the financial resources. Youth must be in 9th grade next Fall.
Roma Colglazier has offered to head up the meal preparation. She will need one or two other adults to help for the week. We are not necessarily planning to cook meals from scratch but coordinate healthy, tasty meals. Please help us out. There will be free time during the day when our team is on the job site. We need to raise about $7,000 for the trip from donations, Food Festival sales and memorial funds. We are well on our way thanks to the congregation! A large part of this pays for building materials and supplies.
Call Curt Barry (740-4598) or Ray Heath (754-0808) if you want to go or have questions.
UM MEN
This month the fourth Monday falls on Memorial Day. Therefore, we are having our meeting a week early on Monday, May 21st. Our own Dick Byers will be our guest and give a program about Heart Havens for which he is a board member and regular volunteer. Join us for this great program!
New Bible Study Coming!
Are you a young parent? We’re starting a new Bible study with you in mind. On Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. we’ll study together while the kids sing in the choir. Join us for some time of fellowship and study, and let your spirit be renewed!

We were cleaned up in one hour with 10 people helping, too. Boxes will speed set up in October at next book sale.
Graduation Celebration!
Graduation Sunday will be June 10th! We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of all the students in our midst who have reached this great milestone in their lives! If you, or someone in your family, will be graduating this spring from High School, College or Graduate School, please call the church office with their name, school and degree so we can recognize them.
Also, let us know if they will join us for Graduate Sunday on June 10th and at which service. Thank you.
